JoAnne passed away peacefully at Alma, Michigan Hospital on Monday, January 24, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

Usually, when people describe a deceased loved one, they use words like love and care. Not that she wasn’t those things, because she certainly was, but when it comes to “Momma Jo,” fiery and fierce are the words that come to mind. Those who knew her knew she was a feisty firecracker with the world’s award-winning RBF.

She was never one to do anything, she was fierce in everything she did, from driving a car to fiercely loving everyone around her. Momma Jo wasn’t just a person, she was a whole presence, a vibe, she had a way of being that hit you with a case of the right act and gave you a hug at the same time. She retired from Walmart after 17 years of service.

JoAnne is survived by her husband, David Sr.; daughters: Christine (Dakota Slusser), Cynthia and Briana (James Phillips); and son, David Jr.; grandchildren: Domonick Gregory, Philip and Jazmyne Caldwell, Elizabeth and Ashton Christians, Lily, Piper, Ivy and Jade Prueter, Dustin and Riddic Phillips; mother, Lois Jackson; sister, Karen Sanchez; nieces: Danielle and Laurel Sanchez and Stephanie Christians; and his nephew, Ken Christians.

She was predeceased by her father, Horace Brown; and granddaughter, Christians from Mecca.

JoAnne was cremated by Charles Lux Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be decided by his family.

Donations can be made to a GoFundMe, proceeds will be used to help her family with final expenses and bring JoAnne’s ashes to where she wanted her final resting place to be. https://gofund.me/9c7dd5ec.
